The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan made the announcement on September 24, 2013 that Ella Dolhonde was selected as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon award recipient. The National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award is given to public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ academic achievement.
It’s a great tribute to the teachers, staff, and students of Ella Dolhonde, who worked very hard to earn this award. “Exellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan in a statement. “National Blue Ribbon schools represent examples of educational excellence, and their work reflects the belief that every child in America deserves a world-class education.”
This award reflects the perseverance and dedication of our faculty, students, and parents as we work together toward student academic excellence. We accept this award as a challenge to continue high expectations for all students as we prepare them for future academic demands.
This award is several years in the making and involves many stakeholders’ efforts. Mrs. Wimberly, Ms. Farley, and I will attend an annual awards ceremony in Washington D.C. on November 18th and 19th to accept this award. It is truly an honor to be chosen to lead the way for present and future faculty, staff, and students of Ella Dolhonde. I will humbly accept this award for the entire Ella Dolhonde learning community.
